Title: Oh, Christmas Tree!
Author: Sue Hendra & Paul Linnet
Illustrator: Sue Hendra & Paul Linnet
The Story:
Through the window of every house on Sidney Street, you can see the perfect Christmas scene – except for one. Inside one house is a rather rebellious tree that can imagine nothing worse than being stuck in a pot, wearing glittery decorations. Tree wants adventure and excitement this Christmas, but Bauble, Belle and Tinsel Snake are in no mood for Tree’s antics and will stop at nothing to have the perfect tree this Christmas. Can they learn to love Tree for who it is?
Favourite Spread:
Sue and Paul both wrote and illustrated the story together, and they have created the idyllic street setting at Christmas time that instantly puts a smile on your face. So it’s not hard to see why Bauble and the other Christmas decorations feel a bit put out by Tree’s refusal to get into the traditional Christmas spirit.
They have created such fun and relatable characters and you find yourself wondering, am I #TeamDecorations…
or #TeamTree?
My favourite spread had to be this one, where the excitement of Christmas presents and devious plans come together. What will happen next?
The Verdict:
This book is a Christmas rhyming delight! It has the perfect balance between sparkly, seasonal fun and a message of gold: be true to who you are. The ending will have the whole family in hysterics! Oh, Christmas Tree! is a great addition to any Christmas picture book collection.
