Today, I’m showcasing a new board book that both my daughters love. Goodnight Farm by Becky Davies and Carmen Saldaña is part of Little Tiger’s Little Explorers series. With cut-out sections that peep through to glittery moonlight on the sleepy farm, this dreamy board book was an instant hit.

Interestingly, I read this book differently depending on whether I’m reading it to my one-year-old or my three-year-old. Each page has two different sized fonts. The larger font has a gentle rhyming story about the sleepy farm animals. This is the perfect length to keep a one-year-old’s attention as they poke their fingers through all the cut-out sections.

Each page has a few little cut-out sections that give a sneak-peek at another sleeping animal which are perfect for little ones! We loved seeing the woodpecker asleep in a tree. The pages of the board book are incredibly sturdy which I really like as my one-year-old could turn the pages herself without any risk of them bending or getting damaged.

When reading this book with my three-year-old, we love the sections of the book in the smaller font. These sections give fun facts about the animals on the farm. Did you know that cows only sleep for four hours a night?!

The balance between playful story and fun facts is just right and gives this board book longevity. It is a perfect gift for a one-year-old but it will also be a book they will continue to enjoy as they get older. Little Explorers Goodnight Farm is a firm favourite with both of my girls. I can’t wait to read more in the series with them!
