Happy Easter! I’m delighted to be sharing four Easter picture books and board books that my daughters are loving this year…

I Am Not the Easter Bunny! by Saskia Gwinn and Matt Robertson
My five-year-old was a huge fan of Do you Love Dinosaurs by Matt (read my review here), so I jumped at the chance to review this quirky picture book which I sensed might feature a dinosaur or two…

This Easter bunny looks a little bit strange. In fact, he looks a little bit like… a DINOSAUR! He has claws, and sharp teeth and seems pretty scary. Could he really be the Easter bunny?!
Saskia and Matt have created a laugh-out-loud Easter picture book that is packed with little details children will love to spot. This is the perfect Easter gift for the whole family, particularly dinosaur-loving readers!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s Easter Surprise by Eric Carle
My three-year-old is building a collection of Hungry Caterpillar spin-off board books (see my reviews of the Christmas and Halloween editions) and this Easter edition definitely hit the mark!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is on the hunt for Easter eggs in this charming, rhyming board book.
My daughter loved all the die-cut shapes. This is a brilliant board book for babies and toddlers alike. But beware, they may want the ENTIRE collection like my daughter!!

The Hot Cross Bunny by Carys Bexington and Mark A. Chambers
I could not resist this bright picture book with a title like that and oh my goodness did the book deliver. Who needs cute bunnies when you have hot-cross Steve and a dragon baby who poos chocolate… but can they save Easter? My daughters loved this book!

Meet Steve, a rather – hot – cross bunny and his more positive pal, Nugget, a cute chick. Steve has failed to make any chocolate eggs for the Easter egg hunt. What is he going to do? Egged on by Nugget he decides to make an egg his own way. Not only is Steve’s attempt egg-normous but it hatches a… dragon!
Chaos takes over in this bold and beautifully illustrated picture book. My daughters were engrossed as a baby dragon rampages though town, gobbling up Easter eggs as it goes. They couldn’t wait to turn the page and see what happened next!
This is a picture book we will be reading for many Easters to come – and in fact, I am sure, all year round!

Peppa’s Easter Hide and Seek by Peppa Pig Brand
Finally, I couldn’t give up the chance to share Peppa’s Easter adventure with the girls. My youngest often requests Peppa Pig books for bedtime reads and she adored this lift-the-flap board book.

Peppa and George are celebrating Easter with Granny and Grandpa Pig, but what happens when Granny Pig’s chickens decide to go on an Easter adventure?
The Peppa books follow the same structure as the TV episodes and this Easter edition has lots of opportunities for children to interact – finding the chickens, lifting the flaps and counting. If you have a Peppa Pig obsessed child, this would make a great gift!
