Merry Whatmas? by Eoin McLaughlin & Polly Dunbar ~ Review

Ever since this gorgeous series launched in Lockdown, we have loved following Hedgehog and Tortoise’s friendship grow in this two-sided flip-the-book picture books (read our reviews of the series here) and we are so excited to have a Christmas edition!

It’s hard to explain just our cute and endearing Hedgehog and Tortoise are, so I will let Eoin do it in his own beautiful words:

‘Merry Christmas!’ said Fox.
‘Merry whatmas?’ said Hedgehog.
‘Merry whichmas?’ said Tortoise.

You see, it was Hedgehog and Tortoise’s first Christmas.
So they didn’t know what Christmas was.

So what is Christmas about? Fox thinks Christmas is about presents, Badger thinks it’s about pudding, Magpie thinks it’s about singing. With so many different thoughts it all get a bit much, but holding on to their friendship, soon Hedgehog and Tortoise realise that Christmas is really all about being with the ones you love. The message of this book is as gorgeous as Polly’s illustrations. We loved it!
