Oi Frog! by Kes Gray & Jim Field ~ #PictureBook #Review ~ @_JimField @hodderchildrens

Title:  Oi Frog!
Author: Kes Gray
Illustrator: Jim Field

Oi Frog!

The Story:
Cat is determined to teach Frog exactly where everyone is supposed to sit. It’s not about being comfortable (Lion sat on an iron can attest to that!) it’s about doing what’s right. And Frogs most definitely sit on logs. Or do they? Frog is less convinced. And what sits on frogs?

Favourite Spread:
From the end paper to end paper, Jim has injected his vibrant fun illustrations and taken Kes’ hilarious story to the next level. Every animal drawn has its personality and feeling depicted with sheer brilliance. For me, though, this spread sums up the story and illustrations. I love how frog spreeeeads out over the sofa and then Cat playing teacher at the chalk board summarises what Frog Needs To Learn!

The Verdict:
This fun rhyming book draws you in with Cat’s unwavering conviction of the rightful place each animal should sit and Frog always questioning. The rhymes are perfect and easy for children to follow, but it’s Jim’s illustrations that will make you belly laugh. This is a book you will want to read over and over again.
