The Story:
Come and meet a quirky gang of amusing animals as you count from one to twenty. Each rhyme introduces a new creature, but hidden within the pages are different species of each animal. How many can you name?

Favourite Spread:
Every spread in this book has something to enjoy. Katie’s illustrations are so detailed and every species of animal is identifiable. I loved the 11 breeds of dogs with their pet frogs – there is so much for children to point out.

The simple rhymes make this a fun read, and I did chuckle at the goats in coats.

But my favourite spread had to be the shark race.

I also really like the last two spreads, which had mini drawings. This is a lovely way for children to practice their counting and also recall the rhymes of the book.

The Verdict:
This is a fabulous counting book, packed full of quirky details, that would make this book an excellent addition to any home or classroom. There is so much fun to be had looking at all the different creatures that it feel like so much more than a traditional counting book.
