Title: Baby’s Very First Faces
Author: Campbell Books
Illustrator: Jo Lodge
The Story:
This colourful, crunchy cloth book offers a range of sensory experiences whilst introducing babies to the familiar faces of Mummy, Daddy and Baby.
Favourite Spread:
Jo has created simple and bold images that babies will love. For newborns, the high-contrast and crinkly-sounding pages will grab their attention. Then, as they get older, they will enjoy you pointing out the different patterns and shapes.
With three lovely pages, I feel it is best to let my two-month-old decide the best spread in this one. And the winner is… Daddy! (Note: this could just mean that – even at only two months old – my daughter is already a daddy’s girl!)
The Verdict:
Coming in a nice gift box, this would make a lovely present for a newborn. I particularly liked that it has a Velcro handle so you can strap it onto a pram or car seat – very practical! And like any sensory book for babies – it wouldn’t be complete without a mirror to catch those smiles!
