Title: Noisy Farm – 30th Anniversary Edition
Author: Rod Campbell
Illustrator: Rod Campbell
The Story:
Rooster has woken up Sam the farm dog. There are lots of different noises on the farm, but what animals can Sam hear? And can you spot the animal’s babies – they might be hiding!
Favourite Spread:
The art work throughout is bold and bright. Each page leads into the next, with children guessing what animal is making the noise.
There’s so much for children to enjoy on each page: identifying the animals from their sound, spotting Sam, and lifting up the flap to answer the question on the page. The flaps are cleverly crafted to fit seamlessly into each animal scene. My favourite is the bright blue gate on the pigsty. Oink, oink!
The Verdict:
This truly is a board book classic that takes me right back to my own childhood. It is heart-warming to read the book with my own children and see them experience that same joy I once did, lifting the flaps, spotting Sam and making animal sounds. Happy 30th Birthday, Noisy Farm!
