Title: I am NOT an Elephant
Author: Karl Newson
Illustrator: Ross Collins
The Story:
This laugh-out-loud sequel to I am a TIGER sees a gecko accusing Mouse of being an elephant. Now Mouse is definitely, absolutely, categorically NOT an elephant – but could Mouse be an owl, a sheep, a yak, or a cow? Mouse persuades the others that it’s what is on the inside that counts, and maybe Mouse is actually…?
Favourite Spread:
The combination of Karl’s hilarious concise text with Ross’s bold illustrations is perfection. This spread sums up the fun of this series for me.
Reading this with my daughter who is rather addicted to strawberries, we had fun spotting them throughout. And the strawberries do seem to appear at all the “BIG” moments in the story.
None more so than when we maybe, finally, find out what Mouse really is…
The Verdict:
Karl and Ross make a fabulous team and yet again have created playful scenes with Mouse up to more tricks. I loved I am a TIGER and now I love I am NOT an Elephant too! I’m so glad there is more coming in this series because Mouse is a character you never want to let go of.
