Butterflies are special to my family and so I was delighted to share Look to the Skies by Nicola Edwards and Hannah Tolson with my daughters. This beautifully designed picture book with laser cut-outs, captures the amazing journey of the monarch butterfly’s migration across North America.

Told through gentle rhyming couplets, alongside Hannah’s stunning illustrations, my daughter and I marvelled at the beautiful butterflies undertaking the magical 3000 mile sky parade. We watch them fly through fields, forests and cities.
Unsurprisingly, my daughter’s favourite part of the journey, was when the butterflies flew through a pumpkin field! We talked about all the different shades of orange Hannah had used and the monarch’s wings.

It wasn’t until the final spread of the book, that all of these gorgeous scenes came together to form a map of how the butterflies make the incredible journey from southern Canada to Mexico. I loved the facts included on this final spread. Look to the Skies is a beautifully illustrated picture book that is perfect for butterfly fans!
