Roar with Zog by Julia Donaldson & Axel Scheffler ~ #BoardBook #Review ~ @scholasticuk

Author: Julia Donaldson
Illustrator: Axel Scheffler

Roar with Zog

The Story:
Based around the story of Zog (see review here), this interactive board book lets children use a detachable star-shaped wand to help Zog win a golden star at Dragon School.

Favourite Spread:
The left-hand side illustrations are taken directly from spreads in the picture book Zog while the right-hand side takes snippets of the illustrations that have been rearranged around simplified text. I loved the “roar” sound and the addition of “one, two, three” on each page is great to help children count along.

The Verdict:
This interactive Zog board book is great fun and simplifies the story of Zog for younger readers. It also encourages children’s dexterity by placing the wand in the right place on each page. Although it is a thick board book, it only has five pages (half the thickness is the sound mechanism). However it is extremely light weight and easy to hold.
